Aurobindo Pharma Gets USFDA Approval For Anti Allergic Drug

February 5, 2010- As reported in the pharma news, the Aurobindo Pharma Limited of India, has finally got the USFDA approval for its anti allergic drug- Cetirizine Hydrochloride Solution (cetirizine hcl). USFDA has put the anti allergic under the OTC category which is popularly referred to as over-the- counter drugs. OTC drugs are basically non prescription drugs that may be sold directly to a consumer without a prescription from a health care professional.

Cetirizine Hydrochloride is basically the generic version of the Zyrtec solution from McNeil Consumer Healthcare and is consumed orally. Cetirizine falls under the anti allergic segment that is prescribed for allergic rhinitis in both adults and children who are more than two years of age. The drug is also prescribed to the patients of urticaria (hives) for relief from itching.
