Description

Tobramycin/Dexamethasone is an antibiotic and steroid combination eye ointment or drop, the composition of which is as follows:

  • Tobramycin (antibiotic) 0.3% (3 mg) and
  • Dexamethasone (steroid) 0.1% (1 mg)
The antibiotic works by killing or slowing the growth of sensitive bacteria in the eye. The steroid works by reducing inflammatory reactions.

Uses

To treat eye infections and associated symptoms, including irritation, redness, and discomfort.


How to use ?

Use as prescribed by the doctor. First, wash your hands and eyes. In case of drop, shake well before each use. Using your index finger, pull the lower eyelid away from your eye to form a pouch. Squeeze a thin strip of ointment into the pouch or drop the medicine into the pouch. After using , gently close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes. Wash your hands and wipe the applicator tip with a clean, dry tissue.


Safety tips
  • Do not wear contact lenses while you are using Tobramycin/Dexamethasone Ointment
  • Take care of your contact lenses as directed by the manufacturer.
  • Use at the same time each day.
  • To clear up your infection completely, complete the full course of treatment.
  • If you miss a dose , use it as soon as possible but do not double the doses at once.
  • Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks if you cannot see clearly.
  • If your symptoms do not improve , check with your doctor.
  • Long-term or repeated use may cause a second infection
  • Should not be used in children younger than 2 years old. Consult your doctor before using Tobramycin/Dexamethasone during pregnancy.
Side effects

Seek medical attention immediately if any of these side effects occur:

  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Changes in vision
  • Vision loss
  • Swelling and itching of the eyelid
  • Redness or swelling of the eye
  • Second infection
  • Severe eye pain
