Ramipril is a highly lipophilic,
long acting ACE inhibitor. The drug is used for treating blood
pressure and congestive heart failure. It effectively reduces both
supine and standing blood pressure without significant alteration in
the pulse rate.

Working
The drug acts by lowering the production of Angiotensin II,
therefore relaxing arterial muscles while at the same time enlarging
the arteries. The process allows the heart to pump blood easier, and
increasing the blood flow due to more blood being pumped into and
through bigger passageways.
Dosage
Hypertension: 2.5 mg/day, Max: 10mg /day.
Cardiac Failure: 1.25mg/day, increased to 2.5 mg once daily,
Max:10mg/day
Contra- Indications: Hypersensitivity, bilateral renal
artery stenosis, pregnancy, lactation.
Side Effects
