Description
Norfloxacin is a synthetic, broad-spectrum antibacterial agent for oral
administration. It is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, which works to kill
sensitive bacteria.
Uses To treat certain infections caused by bacteria, like prostate,
urinary tract infections and gonorrhea
How to take?
It comes as a tablet to take by mouth. Should be taken every 12 hours for
7-28 days, twice a day. For gonorrhea, a single dose is taken. Take
norfloxacin exactly as directed by your doctor.
Safety tips
Before taking norfloxacin, follow the following guidelines:
- Tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to any type of
drugs.
- Tell your doctor what prescription and nonprescription medications
you are taking, especially other antibiotics.
- Do not take with antacids , chewable/buffered tablets or oral
solution, iron or zinc supplements, or vitamins that contain iron or
zinc. Take these medicines 2 hours before or after norfloxacin.
- Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, colitis,
stomach problems, epilepsy, vision problems, heart disease, or history
of stroke.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or are breast-feeding or plan to
become pregnant.
- If you are having surgery, tell the doctor that you are taking
norfloxacin.
- Take Norfloxacin with a full glass of water.
- Drinking extra fluids while taking Norfloxacin is very essential.
- Continue taking Norfloxacin for the full course of treatment to clear
up your infection completely.
- If you miss a dose , take it as soon as possible. Do not take 2 doses
at once.
