Description

LINCOMYCIN (Lincocin®) is an antibiotic or antiinfective. It is a white crystalline powder and is odorless or has a faint odor. LINCOCIN Sterile Solution contains lincomycin hydrochloride which is the monohy-drated salt of lincomycin, a substance produced by the growth of a member of the lincolnensis group of Streptomyces lincolnensis belongimg to family Streptomycetaceae. Generic lincomycin injection is available.



Uses
  • It treats serious blood, lung, skin, tissue or pelvic infections caused by bacteria.
  • Used in the treatment of serious infections due to susceptible strains of streptococci, pneumococci, and staphylococci.
How to use \ dosage ?

Lincomycin is for injection into a muscle or for infusion into a vein. This can be intravenous , intervenous or subconjunctival injection injecting in a vein. Finish the full course of medicine prescribed by your prescriber or health care professional even if you feel better. Do not stop using except on your prescriber's advice.


NOTE: Severe cardiopulmonary reactions have occurred when this drug has been given at greater than the recommended concentration and rate


Safety tips

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • diarrhea
  • kidney disease
  • liver disease
  • inflammatory bowel disease
  • ulcerative colitis
  • an unusual or allergic reaction to lincomycin, clindamycin, other medicines, food, dyes or preservatives, like benzyl alcohol
  • pregnant or trying to get pregnant
  • breast-feeding
Common side effects

Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:

  • difficulty breathing
  • diarrhea that is watery or severe
  • feeling like you are going to faint
  • stomach pain or cramps
  • skin rash
  • unusual bleeding or bruising
