How does Fexofenadine Works?
Fexofenadine is in a class of
medications called antihistamines. It works by blocking the effects of
histamine. This is a substance present in the body that leads to allergy
symptoms. It is to be noted that fexofenadine is not a therapeutic drug. It
does not cure allergy, rather it prevents the aggravation of allergy
symptoms and reduces the severity of the symptoms. Fexofenadine
Hydrochloride is a specific selective and competitive histamine H1 receptor
antagonist, with twice the affinity for H1 receptor than terfanadine. It
blocks both early and late stages of allergy effectively. Compared to other
antihistamines, Allegra cause less drowsiness.
