Erythromycin Estolate is a widely used antibiotic, used for treating a variety of bacterial infections. Erythromycin Estolate is given especially to those patients who are allergic or sensitive to sulfa drugs or penicillin. Erythromycin is produced by a strain of Streptomyces erythraeus. Uses of Erythromycin
- Erythromycin works against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria,
and other infectious agents.

Dosage of Erythromycin Estolate
The dosage will depend on the kind
of infection being treated.
- Adults: Intake of 250-400 mg every 6 hours, and total amount taken,
not to exceed 4g in a 24-hour period.
- Children: Intake of 15-25 mg/kg body weight depending upon the
severity of infection.
- Oral Suspension: Intake of ½ 2 teaspoon, depending upon body
weight, or 4 times daily for 10days.
Contra- Indications: Hypersensitivity
Side Effects of Erythromycin Estolate
The drug has certain side
effects, that can affect individuals in different ways. The following are
