DALTEPARIN INJECTION

Dalteparin Injection Generic name: Dalteparin injection
Brand name: Fragmin

Description
FRAGMIN is a type of medicine called low molecular weight heparin. It works by making thrombin inactive in the body. Thrombin is an ingredient which contributes to blood clotting. Blood clots are most likely to form in the first few days after surgery when you are not able to walk and it is during this time that dalteparin is used. Generic dalteparin injections are not yet available.

Uses
  • This is used to prevent formation of clots in the veins, arteries, lungs, or heart during abdominal surgery.
  • This medication is a "blood thinner" (anticoagulant). It is used to help prevent blood clots in persons undergoing surgery
  • Used to treat unstable coronary artery disease
  • Used to prevent clotting in those at risk when mobility is restricted during acute illness
  • Used to prevent clotting in blood dialysis and filtration equipment in connection with acute kidney failure or kidney disease
How to use \ dosage ?
Inject under the skin (subcutaneously), usually 1 to 2 hours before surgery, then once a day for 5 to 10 days after the surgery. Do not inject into a muscle (intramuscularly). It is usually given by a health-care professional, or you or a family member may be trained on how to give the injections. Do not exceed the prescribed dose, and try not to miss doses.
