Description
Ovidrel is a sterile liquid preparation of choriogonadotropin alfa . Choriogonadotropin alfa is a water soluble glycoprotein consisting of two non-covalently linked subunits - designated a and ß - consisting of 92 and 145 amino acid residues. This process yields a product with a high level of purity and consistent product characteristics including glycoforms and biological activity. The pH of the solution is 6.5 to 7.5.

Uses This medication is mainly used to help women with fertility problems become pregnant. It works by helping to produce mature eggs for fertilization; either naturally or by assisted means (e.g., in vitro fertilization).

How to use \ dosage ?
After injecting the mixing liquid (diluent) into the vial of powdered drug, gently roll the vial until the powder is completely dissolved; do not shake the injection/vial. Doing so may make this medicine ineffective. Inject this medication under the skin (subcutaneously) usually the day after your last dose of vesicle stimulating medicine as directed by your cosultant. Your doctor's decision to give this injection is based on laboratory and medical test results. If any of the information is unclear, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Safety tips
This medication is not recommended for use if you have the following medical conditions:
  • Pituitary gland tumor
  • Ovarian cysts
  • Unusual vaginal bleeding
  • Primary ovarian failure
  • Thyroid or adrenal gland problems
  • Tumors or cancers of the female reproductive organs (e.g., fallopian tubes, ovaries, uterus).
NOTE : This drug must not be used during pregnancy because it may cause fatal harm. It is not known if this medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

  • Weight gain
  • Nausea
  • Gas
  • Rashes
  • Vomiting
  • Severe stomach/ abdominal pain
  • Decrease in amount of urine
