Cefixime or Cefixime
Trihydrate is a third generation oral cephalosporin, effective
against a wide range of sensitive gram-positive, gram-negative and
anaerobic bacterial pathogens including betalactamase producing
strains.

Working
The drug works by severely injuring the cell walls of the infecting
bacteria, and thereby preventing them from growing and multiplying.
The drug is however, not effective against viruses, parasites, or
fungi.
Dosage
Adults: 200-400mg daily as single or 2 divided doses for
7-14 days
Children: 8mg/kg body weight daily as a single or 2 div.
Doses. Not recommended for children below 6 months of age.
The drug is available in Tablets (200 mg and 400 mg) and oral
suspension (100 mg per 5-ml spoonful)
Contra- Indications: Hypersensitivity
Side Effects
The drug has certain side effects, that can affect individuals in

often associated with the drug:
- G-I disturbances
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Rashes
